What is Radiofrequency energy treatment?
Radiofrequency (RF) energy treatment is technology for non-surgical tightening of the early signs of loose or sagging skin; ideal for those people who either don’t want, or don’t believe they are old enough to have a surgical procedure.
Pure thermage RF (1Mhz) energy alone (such as the Accent™, Pelleve™and Tripollar™ devices) is primarily used to treat skin laxity by facial tightening, and is best suited to patients with mild to moderate sagging of facial tissues, usually those in their mid 30s to 50s, with any skin colour. It is commonly used to treat the forehead, under the eyes, cheeks, mid-face, jaw line, and neck.
Based on current RF technologies, most people should see at least a mild improvement in their skin tightness, with minimal risks and downtime compared to surgery.
What happens during a treatment?
You will receive a full consultation with a fully trained therapist who will assess your suitability for the treatment and answer any questions you may have.
Your therapist will advise you on the best course of treatment; this will depend on your age, your skin condition, the severity of your condition and your lifestyle.
The Treatment
Your therapist will apply a cooling gel to the area being treated to ensure that the RF achieves the best results.
After your treatment, the cooling gel will be removed.
How Many Treatments are Required?
In most cases results can be seen after just three to six treatments, however, your therapist will advise you on a suitable course of treatments during your consultation. The number of treatments you will need will depend on your age, your skin condition, the severity of your condition and your lifestyle. Best results are achieved with a course of treatments. Your therapist will advise you as to whether top up treatments over a longer period of time may be required.
What Should I Do After Treatment?
Your therapist will apply a soothing gel where necessary after treatment as your skin may be slightly warm and pink.
Can This System Be Used With Other Therapies?
Yes, clients often have other treatments around the same time as having an Ultra VPL™ treatment. Always advise your therapist during your consultation about any other treatments you have recently received or are planning to have.
